Pop of Red

by Dominique on July 31, 2012

I absolutely fell in love when I first spotted this dress {pun intended}…it has the perfect vibe for the 9-5/5-9 transition. The long cardigan vest was the perfect addition to downplay the sexiness the open back provides and makes it office friendly. To add a little pop, I decided against black pumps and went for my new and exiting red beauties that are actually quite comfortable. This outfit will definitely be in my office wear rotation for quite some time.

Patriotic Sunday

by Dominique on July 29, 2012

This Sunday was perfectly relaxing: tried out a new brunch spot (Banana Cafe), walked around Eastern Market with my favorite Starbucks’ drink (unsweetened iced green tea), and watched the Olympics.  Paying tribute to this weekend’s games, I sported the good ol’ red, white, and blue. I was so excited when we came across this large American flag while walking past the Marine Barracks because I was just saying how I wished I had a mini flag to wave today.
H&M Sweater {old but this one is cool}; Torn by Ronny Kobo Skirt {similar here}; Converse Sneakers; Prada Bag; Bracelets: Wanderlust + Co {in white and navy blue} and CC Skye; Forever 21 Necklace {old}; Sunnies from Urban Outfitters {in stores only}; Michael Kors Watch

Recipe: Tuna Rolls

by Dominique on July 26, 2012

In an attempt to eat healthier, I’m always excited to come across recipes that are not only good for you but are tasty too.  Addicted to Ina Garten, I watched Barefoot Contessa yesterday while on the elliptical (watching the Food Network while working out is a guilty pleasure of mine) and salivated as she made this  Tuna Roll. It looked delicious and fairly easy to make so I ran down to Harris Teeter and picked up the ingredients to make the dish myself. This is literally one of the BEST tuna dishes I’ve ever had and it’s perfect for hot summer days. I opted for wheat pita bread instead of the hot dog buns and it was still extremely delicious.

Everyday Resort Wear

by Dominique on July 25, 2012

Something about this outfit makes me wish I was vacationing somewhere. Maybe it’s the ease of the shorts or the tied button down shirt, but it yearns to be on a beach somewhere. To go with the flow of the ensemble, I opted to go simple and not wear any statement jewelry. Sometimes you just need a no frills, no hassle, no effort outfit and this one definitely fit the bill for me today.Zara Blouse {old}; H&M Shorts {purchased on sale for $5}; Calvin KleinWedges;

Rainy Day Delights

by Dominique on July 23, 2012

Although I expected rain this weekend, I was shocked that the temperature read 65 degrees when I checked the forecast Saturday morning. Deciding to put my plans of white water rafting and zip lining in the great outback of West Virginia on hold until sunnier skies poke through, I didn’t let the weather put a damper on my weekend or my mood. After reading about the LEGO exhibit and Miniature Golf course temporarily housed at the National Building Museum (both in DC until September 3), I couldn’t wait to check it out.
J.Crew Sweater {on sale!}; Zara Pants; Coach Flats {old}; Michael Kors Tote; Lettie Gooch Necklace; Bracelets: Wanderlust + Co, Poshlocket, Hermes, and Michael Kors; Michael Kors Watch; Tote’s Macro Umbrella
I was INFATUATED with LEGOs as a kid and was blown away by the complexity and architectural structure of the mini replicas of seven of the most famous skyscrapers designed by world renowned architects (sorry for the picture quality, not taken w/ my Canon Rebel).  If you live in or are visiting DC before September, I highly recommend a visit.
