Sweats & Heels

by Dominique on July 11, 2014

I know I post quite a lot of work inspired outfits on here but this outfit probably sums up my off duty look the best.  I am a HUGE advocate for dressing up more laid back pieces such as sweats with heels.  I wore this look to travel down to Washington, DC for a good friend’s wedding.  I will try to snap a few pics of “what I wore” to the various events (night out, wedding day, and the send of brunch).

Wanted to show a good example of taking a work/more dressy top and transitioning it into a summer/more casual outfit.  And I know some women don’t like wedges but I, personally, am a HUGE fan – not only are they one of the more easy heel styles for traipsing around the city, they are also comfortable and practical.
Banana Republic Top {lots of fun options here}; Loft Shorts {super cute pair here that I might have to purchase}; Calvin Klein Wedges

But now I’m also in love with volume!! I’m loving the crop-top trend but tend to steer towards the looser versions like the one seen here. I kept the shoes and bag a more neutral tone so the focus was on the outfit. [click to continue…]

Sweetheart Stripes

I really love the combination of mix-matched stripes. It is definitely one of the more subtle ways to play with mixing prints. As long as the color palatte of the two striped patterns aren’t too wonky and clashing, this is a fun way to incorporate a playful looking into your wardrobe this summer. [click to continue…]
